Counselor Or Coach?
It can be very confusing when looking for relationship help these days. Many people do not understand the difference between a relationship counselor and a relationship coach. To simply the differences read below:
Higher Education. To be considered a relationship counselor you must have a Master’s Degree or higher in clinical psychology, family and marriage therapy, social work, or mental health counseling.
Extensive Clinical Training. A relationship counselor must go through clinical training under the supervision of a PhD.
Psychotherapeutic Skills. A relationship counselor will have a vast array of psychotherapeutic methods in working with a couple looking for relationship help.
Two Hats. A relationship counselor can also work as a relationship coach when they are not treating mental health or psychological problems in their clients.
Length of Treatment. A relationship counselor will often work with their clients on a long-term basis addressing issues starting in their childhood.
When looking for relationship help one can chose a relationship counselor or a relationship coach depending upon the relationship help needed. If there are psychological or mental health issues that need to be addressed it is best to seek help from a relationship counselor. However, if there are relationship issues concerning finding the right partner, how to have more effective communication, setting and attaining relationship goals, and learning how to pick and date the right people, then working with a relationship coach will serve those needs in a much quicker and efficient way.
